Can You Drink Lacroix on Hcg Diet

Since I get so many questions about various types and brands of drinks and if we can have them on hCG, I thought I'd make kind of a "master list" if you will to help us all out. And please remember, just because I am listing them here does not mean there's a guarantee that they are 100% okay to use on hCG – as always, you must decide for yourself and gauge how your own body responds to them. But in general, here is what things appear to be like for most. Also if you come across other brands you'd like to see added here, please let us know!

To help keep things clear, we are breaking things down between carbonated vs non-carbonated, and Flavored vs. Sweetened. Many drinks are flavored, but not sweetened.

Before we get started, note that we have all sorts of fun P2 approved hCG drink recipes over at my hCG Recipes site! Check 'em out:

Yummy hCG Drink Recipes

OKAY ON HCG FOR MOST:

This list is based on whether or not it's calorie free or almost calorie free. Some have sweeteners or ingredients that I don't personally think are the best, especially because there are healthier choices now- where applicable, I notate this to you.

Unsweetened carbonated waters

  • Sparkling water
  • Mineral water
  • Carbonated water
  • Club soda
  • Seltzer
  • Soda water

These are calorie free and don't have any sweetener, so in my mind I don't see how you could really go wrong with these on hCG. These can be used to make your own "sodas" by adding various water flavorers or flavored stevias mentioned a little further below. Keep in  mind too that some of these brands have various types of drinks, many of which contain sugar and wouldn't be suitable for P2, so the ones I have linked to are the line of drinks I mean.

Sparkling FLAVORED unsweetened beverages – Zero Calories

These are carbonated, and they have many various flavors added, no sweetness.

  • LaCroix
  • Waterloo Sparkling Water
  • Perrier
  • San Pellegrino Flavored Sparkling Mineral Water
  • Bubly Sparkled Water
  • Schweppes Seltzer
  • Polar Seltzer
  • Dasani Sparkling Water

Plain Water Flavored Unsweetened beverages – Zero Calories

These are not sparkling, and they have only various flavors added, no sweetness.

Hint Water – Here's an article that gives you the 10 tastiest flavors after they tried them all.

Sparkling Flavored sugar-free sweetened beverages:

These are carbonated, and have flavors with some-sort of sugar-free sweetness added

Zevia sodas – I love these. They are sweetened ONLY with stevia instead of the more common eythritol/stevia combo. Some flavors don't seem to pair as well with stevia as others (meaning they don't taste as good). Right now my absolute favorite, most REAL tasting flavor they have is Grape. There are about 14 flavors at this time.

Sparkling ICE – sweetened with sucralose/splenda- personally not my favorite as far as healthy goes. A tiny amount of juice, but not enough to require the calories be listed. It seems that if it has less than 5 calories per serving, they can list it as calorie free.

Spindrift – this one is a bit different because it's plain carbonated soda with a small amount of fruit juice from fresh fruit.Depending on which flavor you get they have between 0-15 calories per can. For instance, their cucumber juice flavor has only 2 calories and cucumber is original P2 protocol too, so that seems pretty legit! Their blackberry flavor, which I've linked to and is my favorite, has 15 calories per can, and 3g carbs, 1g sugar (this is 1/4 tsp of sugar). So that's minimal, but it's also not something you'd want to have 4 cans a day of either on P2 you know?

Plain Water Flavored Sugar-Free Sweetened beverages:

Glaceau Vitamin Water Zero – these also have stevia and erythritol. With only 1 tsp of erythritol per bottle though, and the bottle is quite large, this seems like a pretty good choice).

Propel – these have sucralose which again, I don't care for.

Tea with only herbs – Zero calories

Most agree herbal teas are totally fine.

Tea with dried fruit bits or from dried fruit

This will be up to you. It appears that amount of calories per serving of tea like this must be less than 5 calories since the boxes I looked at all said "0 calories". So I wouldn't sweat these. I have a help hub article on teas with fruit here. Here's a few nice tea options in this category.

  • Kona Oolong – with pineapple, papaya, citrus peel and pineapple flavoring
  • Tealyra – Hibiscus and Berries
  • Elderberry Tea – organic- unbleached tea bags – this is one of my FAVORITE teas. We had it on our anniversary vacation a couple years ago and the berry taste is divine. Plus: calories say ZERO.

Water Flavor Enhancers

these can be added to any of the above drinks for more flavor and sweetness

Stur Flavors – contain stevia, fruit flavor, and a tiny bit of fruit juice (minimal) – 2 squirts of this in even plain water tastes great.

  • Fruit Punch Flavor – 5 pack. This is my favorite flavor.
  • Grape Acai flavor – 5 pack. My also most favorite flavor.
  • 5 Bottle Variety Pack

WaterDrops – by Sweetleaf brand – yummy – sweetened with stevia. No weird ingredients.

Dasani Drops – this brand has flavor + sweetener (sucralose) + weird dyes (hello Yellow #5) – not the best choices of choices out there.

Mio Flavor Enhancers – same as Dasani- sucralose, dyes, etc – just doesn't seem necessary when we have Waterdrops and Stur now.

Sugar Free Sweeteners

Powdered plain stevia – this is my absolute favorite and the only one I use

Trim Healthy Mama Stevia – 1 oz bag – you can small bag to try and if you like they also sell a larger 4 oz bag at a savings (they do not sell this on amazon btw). I tried quite a few powdered stevias – the best selling brands on amazon, and I did not like any of them, and this is coming from someone who has been using stevia daily for like 8 years now.

Flavored liquid stevias – some of my favorite flavors are:

  • Sweetleaf Clear Liquid Stevia
  • Grape liquid stevia
  • Chocolate liquid stevia
  • Watermelon liquid stevia
  • 5 Variety Pack – cheaper smaller bottles – Caramel, Chocolate, Vanilla, Coconut, Plain

Erythritol – this is a sugar alcohol- I think keeping the use of this very minimal on P2 is a good idea because it's not entirely calorie free, however it's close. I personally would stick with using only 1-2 tsp per day if at all. I should add that for P3 and life-long eating, I personally love utilizing these- although I still continue to limit my daily consumption since it's not really a "real food". My favorite brands:

  • Swerve Erythritol – granular- good for hot beverages where the granules will melt
  • Swerve Erythritol – confectioners – better for cold foods
  • Swerve – pack of 2 – one each of confectioners and granular – at a savings than buying each separately
  • Pyure Brand – granular

PROCEED WITH CAUTION DRINKS OR HAVE ONLY OCCASIONALLY

These drinks are listed here because they have more erythritol used to achieve a certain level of sweetness, and this is something I feel would be best to use more judiciously on P2.

For a little more info on Erythritol, this thread is helpful – basically erythritol does have 4g of carbs per 1 tsp, however MOST of it is not absorbed your body and so these "carbs" are not counted even by people on Keto diets. And the bottles of sodas may list the carbs but then advertise somewhere the effective "net carbs" which are much lower, and that's how they are arriving at this lower number- because you aren't absorbing as calories the majority of those "carbs". But knowing this can help you see just how much erythritol has been added to a serving of something. If the can says 10g of carbs total for 2 servings, then that means it has 2.5 teaspoons of erythritol powder inside.

Using these only occasionally is not a proven rule- it's very possible you could drink these every day without issue. But I'm just not sure so that's why I'm putting them here.

Sugar-free Sodas & Drinks – the full-on soda replacement deal in a can

  • Bai flavored drinks– has about 10 calories per bottle. Sweetened with stevia and erythritol. Has coconut water so that's why it's "6% juice"
  • Blue Skye sugar free sodas – these are sweetened with stevia and erythritol.
  • SoBe Vitamin Enhanced 0 Calories – these are basically the same thing as the Glaceau vitamin water Zero, but each bottle has 2x the amount of erythritol it seems if all the carbs included are from that (I'm actually not sure of this)- which would mean 2tsp erythritol per bottle.
  • H2Wow flavor enhancer drops – this does contain agave syrup as 1 sweetener, in addition to stevia, which is a plain and simple sugar, so if you can utilize the other flavor drops earlier in this post, it seems best.
